I have four favorite movies, in no particular order:

The English Patient — because both the movie and the book defined the way I loved, as a teenager — that big and crazy and jealous and all encompassing kind of love that just drives you insane.

Jeux d’Enfants — Because it made me fall back in love with French cinema, because it’s so pretty and whimsical and the story is so sad and so glorious at the same time. 

Moulin Rouge — Because it brought me my love for musicals and it’s the main reason I started to sing. Plus, it introduced me to Baz Luhrmann, who is one of my filmmaking idols. 

For Lovers Only — Because it saved me from another year of darkness and opened the doors to a brand new world of filmmaking, of cinematography, of the possibility of working in that world.
