It makes me a little bit sad to know that 90% of the negative reviews I have gotten on my fan fiction came from anonymous sources.

It doesn’t piss me off; it doesn’t discourage me — unless it’s one of those ‘OMG, KILL YOURSELF’ kind of reviews, and it rarely ever is — but it does make me sad because I can’t really argue my point, I can’t reply to the person to explain why that particular scenario makes sense in my head, even if it doesn’t for them. Most of the negative reviews I’ve gotten had constructive, valid points — whether on characterization or plot or just the preposterousness of my themes — and all of those were points that I could very well argue, or that I could agree with and thank the reviewer.

It makes me so very sad that, because they’re saying negative things, people choose to close that channel of communication and not deal with the consequences of their words, whether it’s an explanation or a ‘thank you’ note.
